The Wall Bed Process — From First WhatsApp to Year-10 Warranty

Every step explained. Print it, bring it to any HK vendor visit, score each one against the same checklist. Total elapsed time: 6-12 weeks initial install + 10-year warranty period.

TL;DR — what to expect

The 8 stages, in order

Stage 1Day 0 — first contact

Initial inquiry (5-10 min)

Two ways: (a) WhatsApp directly with district + flat size, or (b) fill our 60-second quote form which builds a structured WhatsApp message with all the right info. Both work; the form takes the same time but produces a better quote because all fields are populated.

What you get: WhatsApp reply within 24 hours (HK business hours often 2-4 hours) with: ballpark price range, lift/access feasibility check, 2-3 most-relevant case studies for your situation.
Ask any vendor: Will you give me a price range BEFORE the showroom visit? (We do; many vendors refuse and force the showroom visit first.)
Stage 2Day 1 – Day 7

Showroom visit (30 minutes, free, no pressure)

Visit our Kwun Tong showroom (駱駝漆大廈三期 4E, Hoi Yuen Road) at your scheduled time. You'll:

What you leave with: a printed (or PDF emailed) quote-feasibility memo with 3 likely-config options for your flat + price range per option.
Ask any vendor: Can I see the mechanism's patent number? Can you load-test it in front of me with 200kg? (We do both. Many vendors can't.)
Red flag (any vendor): showroom visit feels like sales pressure, vendor refuses to share material brand names, no live load test offered.
Stage 3Day 3 – Day 14

Site survey + final quote (1-2 hours, free)

Once you've confirmed interest, we visit your flat for a site survey. We measure:

If you're remote (e.g. expat pre-arrival from Singapore), we do this via video call + your photos. Same accuracy.

What you get within 3 working days: a fully itemised written quote (not a verbal estimate). Lines include: frame + mechanism, mattress, finishes, hardware, structural reinforcement (if any), install labour, management approval (if applicable), warranty terms, payment schedule, lead time. Total breakdown to the HKD.
Ask any vendor: Can you give me an itemised written quote? Can I see your contract template before I commit anything? (We send both proactively.)
Red flag (any vendor): verbal-only quotes, "we'll figure out the price as we go", no written contract template, demands 50%+ upfront.
Stage 4Day 7 – Day 21

Service agreement + 30% deposit

You sign our standard 1-page customer contract via DocuSign (or paper if you prefer). Contract includes:

Payment options: FPS (instant), bank transfer (3-5 working days), corporate AP (Net 30/60), international wire transfer (4 working days clearance for expats arriving from overseas).

What you get: a signed copy of the contract + 7-day cooling-off receipt + your project number for tracking.
Ask any vendor: What's your refund policy if I cancel after deposit? Can I see your standard contract before committing? (Ours is publicly published at /contract-template-en.)
Red flag (any vendor): no written contract, refuses to publish contract template, demands cash-only deposit, no cooling-off period, deposit "non-refundable for any reason".
Stage 5Week 2 – Week 8

Production in our Kwun Tong workshop (4-6 weeks)

Manufacturing happens in our Kwun Tong workshop. Standard timeline:

During production, we send you 2 photo updates: at frame-built stage (week 3) and at finishing stage (week 5-6). You can request a workshop visit if you want to inspect mid-production (~30 min).

Pre-arrival expat workflow: if you're not in HK yet, we run production in parallel with your arrival timeline. Install is scheduled for the Wed/Thu of your arrival week — bed is ready 3 days after you land.

What you get: 2 photo updates + a confirmed install date 1 week before scheduled day.
Ask any vendor: Can you send me production updates? Can I visit the workshop? (We do both freely.)
Red flag (any vendor): opaque production stage, no photo updates, "trust us, it's being made", workshop address not disclosed.
Stage 6Install day

Install + handover (4-7 hours, plus 30 min handover)

Crew arrives at your flat at the agreed time (typically 9am or 1pm to fit lift access windows). Standard install:

Handover is critical — we run through the 15-item checklist with you, train you on safe deployment + retraction, leave you the warranty document + maintenance card. You sign off, we receive the 70% balance via FPS, you receive the 10-year warranty certificate.

What you get: installed wall bed, signed 15-item handover checklist, warranty certificate (electronic + paper), maintenance card, our 24-hour emergency hotline.
Ask any vendor: Do you have a written handover checklist? Will you train me on safe operation? (Both yes for us.)
Red flag (any vendor): install crew leaves without walkthrough, no written handover, vendor demands full balance before bed is fully tested, no emergency contact provided.
Stage 7Day 30 — first checkup

30-day check-in (5-min WhatsApp, free)

30 days after install, we WhatsApp you a quick check-in: any unusual noises? Mechanism feels smooth? Mattress comfort OK? Any post-install settling-in issues?

If anything's off, we schedule a free service visit within 1 week. Common 30-day issues (rare but solvable):

What you get: peace of mind that the install is settled and warranty period is rolling smoothly.
Ask any vendor: Do you do post-install check-ins? (Most don't. We do.)
Stage 8Year 1 – Year 10

Annual maintenance + warranty period

Year 1 to year 10 of ownership:

What you get: 10 free annual maintenance visits over the warranty period, plus emergency response within 24 hours for any mechanism failure.
Ask any vendor: Is the warranty transferable to the next flat owner? What's the average response time for warranty claims? (Both: yes, transferable; 24-hour response.)
Red flag (any vendor): warranty is verbal only, no annual checkup included, "we'll address issues case-by-case", warranty becomes void if you sell flat, no published response time SLA.
