The Wall Bed Process — From First WhatsApp to Year-10 Warranty
Every step explained. Print it, bring it to any HK vendor visit, score each one against the same checklist. Total elapsed time: 6-12 weeks initial install + 10-year warranty period.
TL;DR — what to expect
- Day 0 – Day 14: First inquiry → showroom visit → site survey → quote
- Week 2 – Week 8: Contract → production (4-6 weeks) → custom finish lead time
- Week 8 – Day of install: Delivery + 4-7 hour install + handover
- Day 30: Free check-in WhatsApp from us
- Year 1-10: Free annual maintenance visit + warranty coverage
- Total spend: HKD 30k-130k depending on size + finish + reinforcement (typical 50-65k)
- Payment structure: 30% deposit / 70% on install completion. NO middle stage payments. NO cash-only requests.
The 8 stages, in order
Initial inquiry (5-10 min)
Two ways: (a) WhatsApp directly with district + flat size, or (b) fill our 60-second quote form which builds a structured WhatsApp message with all the right info. Both work; the form takes the same time but produces a better quote because all fields are populated.
Showroom visit (30 minutes, free, no pressure)
Visit our Kwun Tong showroom (駱駝漆大廈三期 4E, Hoi Yuen Road) at your scheduled time. You'll:
- Test the mechanism yourself (3-finger lift; 8-second deployment)
- See the actual SBLM American hardware (with patent number visible)
- Examine real material samples (Egger E0, Häfele Pro Series hardware, Blum hinges)
- Discuss your flat's specifics — we have layout templates for 27 HK districts
- Watch a 5-minute load test (we put 200kg on the deployed bed live)
Site survey + final quote (1-2 hours, free)
Once you've confirmed interest, we visit your flat for a site survey. We measure:
- Wall thickness + material (we do a 3-second knock-test + a small drill probe with your permission)
- Ceiling height + any beams/ducting in the way
- Lift dimensions, staircase if walk-up, building access route
- Floor levelness (laser level)
- Adjacent room layout for sound/light/airflow considerations
If you're remote (e.g. expat pre-arrival from Singapore), we do this via video call + your photos. Same accuracy.
Service agreement + 30% deposit
You sign our standard 1-page customer contract via DocuSign (or paper if you prefer). Contract includes:
- 30% deposit / 40% on delivery / 30% after 15-item handover checklist signed (same payment split for everyone)
- 7-day cooling-off period — you can cancel within 7 days for full deposit refund, no questions
- 10-year mechanism warranty terms (transferable on flat sale)
- Schedule with named milestones (production start, ETA, install date)
- Materials provenance disclosed (component-by-component country of origin)
- Dispute pathway (HK Consumer Council → Small Claims Tribunal)
Payment options: FPS (instant), bank transfer (3-5 working days), corporate AP (Net 30/60), international wire transfer (4 working days clearance for expats arriving from overseas).
Production in our Kwun Tong workshop (4-6 weeks)
Manufacturing happens in our Kwun Tong workshop. Standard timeline:

During production, we send you 2 photo updates: at frame-built stage (week 3) and at finishing stage (week 5-6). You can request a workshop visit if you want to inspect mid-production (~30 min).
Pre-arrival expat workflow: if you're not in HK yet, we run production in parallel with your arrival timeline. Install is scheduled for the Wed/Thu of your arrival week — bed is ready 3 days after you land.
Install + handover (4-7 hours, plus 30 min handover)
Crew arrives at your flat at the agreed time (typically 9am or 1pm to fit lift access windows). Standard install:
- 0:00-0:30 Setup, building security / management notification, floor protection laid
- 0:30-1:30 Material transport (lift trips for high-rise; stair trips for walk-up — see Mid-Levels pillar + KT/SYP pillar for logistics specifics)
- 1:30-3:30 Frame assembly + anchor drilling (or steel base placement for freestanding variant)
- 3:30-5:00 Mechanism install + finishing + cabinetry
- 5:00-6:30 Mattress + bedding + cleanup
- 6:30-7:00 Walkthrough + 15-item handover checklist
Handover is critical — we run through the 15-item checklist with you, train you on safe deployment + retraction, leave you the warranty document + maintenance card. You sign off, we receive the 70% balance via FPS, you receive the 10-year warranty certificate.
30-day check-in (5-min WhatsApp, free)
30 days after install, we WhatsApp you a quick check-in: any unusual noises? Mechanism feels smooth? Mattress comfort OK? Any post-install settling-in issues?
If anything's off, we schedule a free service visit within 1 week. Common 30-day issues (rare but solvable):
- Slight squeak from new hinges → we apply lubricant (10-min visit)
- Mattress feels too firm during break-in → we swap to softer top layer at no charge if requested within 30 days
- Soft-close hinge needs adjustment → we tune (5-min visit)
Annual maintenance + warranty period
Year 1 to year 10 of ownership:
- Free annual maintenance visit — we run through a 12-card mechanism inspection (gas spring pressure, cycle count, hinge wear, mattress condition, anchor integrity, etc.)
- 10-year warranty covers all mechanical components — gas spring, frame welds, anchor pull-out, hardware. Transferable to next owner if you sell the flat.
- 24-hour emergency hotline for any urgent mechanism failure (we typically respond within 4 hours, on-site within 24 hours)
- Material warranty — Häfele Pro Series hardware: 5 years (manufacturer); we extend to 10 years through our warranty program.
- Mattress warranty: 5 years (industry standard)
What's NOT covered:
- Cosmetic wear from normal use (paint chips, fabric stains)
- Damage from misuse (e.g. exceeding 750kg dynamic load)
- Damage from typhoon / flood / fire (separate insurance applies)
- Aftermarket modifications (e.g. adding a TV mount on the bed underside)
